A Family Eyewear Company

Founded in 2007 by Austrian couple Marija "Mary" Iljazovic and Roland Wolf, with siblings Christian Wolf and Martin Iljazovic joining later, ROLF aimed to create wooden eyeglasses superior to traditional materials. After perfecting their prototypes in a basement workshop in Lechaschau, they launched at the 2009 Silmo trade show in Paris, winning the Silmo d'Or Award for frame innovation and establishing themselves as an independent brand.

ROLF earned the "Masters of Wood" title and expanded into new materials, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and local production. Their commitment garnered an international following and prestigious awards like the European Product Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and Muse Design Award. The Design DNA of ROLF

ROLF’s timeless, minimalist design has an urban edge. Each pair undergoes strict quality control and craftsmanship, requiring several hours and at least 78 steps from raw materials to completed frames.

Innovation drives ROLF, with patents for wooden frame lens mounting and creations like the "Woodstone"—wood frames covered in stone. Their screwless hinges are maintenance-free and include a stop function for extra frame protection.

Love for Natural Materials

Natural materials are at ROLF’s core. Starting with Tyrolean wood, they developed eucalyptus blends with maple or oak and introduced natural horn with the Monoceros collection. Ethically sourced, the horn is crafted by bending a single piece around the frame. Their Substance Collection features plant-based 3D-printed frames, underscoring their commitment to innovation and sustainability.
